Shade Tree Commission
About the Hummelstown Shade Tree Commission:
The Hummelstown Shade Tree Commission (STC) works to preserve, maintain, and enhance the Borough’s urban tree canopy. Through planning, education, and stewardship, the Commission helps ensure that trees continue to provide environmental, economic, and aesthetic benefits throughout the community.
The Commission is responsible for administering the Borough’s Shade Tree Ordinance and overseeing activities related to trees located within the Borough right-of-way.
Key responsibilities include:

Enforcing and regulating the Shade Tree Ordinance

Reviewing and approving Shade Tree Permit applications

Organizing and coordinating tree planting initiatives

Maintaining an inventory of trees located within the Borough right-of-way

Hosting and organizing the Borough’s annual Arbor Day celebration
The Shade Tree Commission meets on the third Monday of each month at 5:00 PM. Members are appointed to a 5-year term.
