TUESDAY STORM RECOVERY UPDATE

 

CURRENT ROAD CLOSURES

  • 500 block West Main Street (westbound lanes closed)
  • Poplar Avenue at Schaffner Park (mid-block)
  • North Hanover Street at underpass – Kokomo area residents to access via N Hanover St bridge
  • Hyacinth Alley at Prospect Street
  • North Alley from Walnut to Union Street

 

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • Mayor, Public Works and Manager met with PennDOT engineers, bridge inspectors and Norfolk Southern regarding N. Hanover St. repairs.  Improvements start Tuesday for emergency access.
  • Mayor briefed local and state officials on conditions and needs.
  • N. Duke St. tree cleared for traffic.
  • Pump Station work to keep sanitary sewer system operating.
  • Staff attended Municipal briefing offered to municipalities by PPL.
  • Coordination with Republic Services for best service under difficult circumstances.
  • N. Hanover Street signal inspection scheduled.
  • Mayor, EMA Director and Manager met with FD leadership to discuss recovery planning
  • All phone calls regarding storm problems to Borough Office were handled, several in person evaluations of problems.
  • Detour signage is in place per the PD for Main Street closure.
  • Power restoration continues into the night (8:45PM).

 

UPCOMING

  • Chipping starts today and continues through the week.  Call the office, visit website or email chipping@hummelstown.gov to be added to the growing list.  Please be patient as Public Works is operating as efficiently as possible.
  • PPL work continues to work diligently to restore power to all residents.
